Capt Mike called in this evening to report that the wind kept them hiding in the lee of San Clemente for most of this weekend’s two day trip.

Mike said the only bright spot was that they managed to catch 3 yellows the first day and some nice lings and limits of salmon grouper today.

The wind has backed off for tonight’s 976 tuna two day and they will be hard at it in the morning

Gone Fishin’

April 24, 2009  //  Posted by: Wahoo Willie  //  Category: long beach sportfishing

Irv joined the boys on the Big Game 90 at Catalina today - guess he heard the white sea bass have been bitin’ pretty good. Nothin’ like a sea bass bite to make you come down with a case of spring fever, drop everything and jump on the boat…

I don’t know if they’ll get lucky today or not. One thing I do know for sure - they’ll be takin’ pictures of everything that comes aboard, gettin’ ready for the Whopper of the Week Online Fishing Derby.

If you don’t know what that is, you just haven’t been payin’ attention. Get on over to whopperoftheweek.com and sign up. You don’t want to miss out on all the free fishin’ trips and free fishin’ tackle they’re gonna be givin’ away.

Tell em Wahoo Willie sent you.

Capt. Mike and crew are a definite go for tonight’s overnight trip

The trip departs at 10 pm from Marina Sportfishing.

Mike said that with the good weather all week and the fact that the Ocean Quest and several other small boats caught seabass yesterday afternoon and this morning he was going no matter what.

Mike said “As of 9 am we have only 3 reservations but we are going come hell or high water. The crew and I feel that the fish are going to bite in the next few days and the small boat traffic will be light tomorrow so we are going to give it a try”
