PRICE BUSTER TRIPS VERSES LIMITED LOAD TRIPS YOUR CHOICE

August 13, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Sportfishing

I guess some of you did not  understand my previous post.

Yes on 5 selected trips we have given you the option of paying less and fishing with 8 more passengers. Not every one can afford to go on one of the more expensive trips. We are offer them as an alternative.

The remainder of our trips will be limited to 32 or less.

And with the cost of food and permits and taxes your cost is about $225 per day and that is still cheaper than most boats are charging.

If you want a truly ultra limited load trip we would love to have you charter one of these trips. The Price is just $4000 per day for the entire boat and you can go with as few people as you want.

If you bring only 12 people your cost per person would be less than what the boats like the Tracer , Jig Strike or Ocean Quest  are  charging.

And you get to go on a 90 ft long range boat instead of a 55 ft. charter boat.

In 20 kts. of wind 100 miles offshore which would you choose?

MORE PRICE BUSTER TRIPS

Attention all stations

The response was totally overwhelming for the 976tuna Price Buster trips.

both trips filled and had standby lists.

OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE SPOKEN!!! AND WE WILL LISTEN!!

Many of you would prefer to pay less and fish with a few more passengers. The Price Buster trips will take a maximum of 40 passengers this is still only about 60% of Coast Guard capacity for the BIG GAME 90

We are also aware that some of you would prefer to pay more and fish with fewer people so we have decreased our passenger load on our regular trips to 32

On the price buster trips it is a pay as you go type of galley.

You won’t get long range style meals but we will be serving the great short order food that the BIG GAME 90 is famous for when we run 1 day trips.

Begging for Photos

August 09, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Fish Photos, big game 90, fish reports

Good Sunday morning.

Mike just called in to report that they had a tuff day of weather yesterday but did manage to scratch out 50+ mixed fish for the day.

They made the move to yesterdays hot bluefin area and have  put 6 bluefin tuna and 4 albacore on the deck as of 8am this morning and are seeing some small spots of tuna.

The weather is great and they have high hopes for the day.

Guys and Gals I’m asking for your help. We kicked off a new feature (Your Trip Photos) on
REPORTS FROM THE BRIDGE and we’re begging you for photos. These can be any photos that where taken of fish caught  on the Big Game 90. Just give me when and who and we will put them up. I’ll let Willie tell you how.

Here’s what you do:

  • Email your photos to BG90photos@gmail.com. Don’t send huge files. Shrink ‘em down a bit first. Don’t paste ‘em into your email. Attach ‘em. If you don’t know how to do all that, get your nearest 12 year old to show you how. That’s what I did.
  • Don’t forget to tell us the trip number or the date of the trip you were on. We can’t post ‘em if we don’t know where to post ‘em to.
  • Don’t forget it’s a G rated site. We won’t post your dirty pictures (but that don’t mean you can’t send em anyway).

Thanks Willie

there where also 6 more yellowfin over 40lbs. that where taken but weren’t interred in the jack-pot

Mike reporter seeing several nice schools of tuna that didn’t want to bite or because of the rough weather they couldn’t get back on them “when this weather straightens out we are going to have some of the best tuna fishing in years”

We have openings on Sunday night’s 2 1/2 day and several openings on Wednesday Night’s 976 tuna price buster 2 day trip.

Mike’s morning report

August 07, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: big game 90, fishing reports, san diego fish reports

Capt. Mike Jewett called in early to report good fishing this morning they have 30+ mixed fish  and much improved weather
Mick said that they had their chances yesterday afternoon but didn’t really take advantage of them and only landed 47 tuna and dorado but the fishing was much better than that.
The combination of tough weather, light line, old worn out tackle and inexperience was a bit too much for the first day of the trip. The weather being better and some coaching by the crew they are landing a greater percentage of fish this morning.
The grade of yellowfin was larger too some 25 to 30lbs and a few 50 to 60lb bluefin.

We still have openings on tonight’s 2 day  trip including the Military,Law enforcement and Firefighters discount. Sunday nights 2 1/2 trip has openings too
the weather is laying down and the fish are back up and biting come fish with the BIG GAME crew call 858 270-7525

Got Pictures?

August 05, 2009  //  Posted by: Wahoo Willie  //  Category: Fish Photos

Hey Gang, Wahoo Willie here with a couple of things…

Check out the new page on Reports From the Bridge. It’s called “Your Trip Photos” and I bet you can guess what’s on it. Just a couple of slide shows posted so far, but we’re gonna be puttin’ up a new slide show for every trip.

The crew does a pretty good job of takin’ pictures, but it’s not their number one job - it’s tough to hold a camera in one hand and a gaff in the other, know what I mean? They’re gonna miss some good stuff, and they’re not gonna get pictures of everybody or every nice fish. So if you’ve got pictures you want posted, you send ‘em and we’ll post ‘em…

Seeya at the rail.

Wahoo Willie

Mike finds bluefin and yellowfin late in the day

August 04, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: fish reports, san diego charter boats, san diego fishing

Despite tough weather and the water turning green Capt. Mike pulled this one out of his hat!

Late this afternoon Mike found an area of bait-balls, whales and lots of fish.

They ended the day with over 150 mixed fish mostly yellowfin but they did manage to put 7 50 to 70lb. bluefin on the boat as well. Those guys where very tough on light line along with the sloppy weather. The good news is Mike reported the weather was laying down and should be nice the rest of the week.

The BIG GAME goes again tomorrow night and we still have some openings on that  trip and the weekend trip as well.
