Mike finds a nuget of yellows in the lee of Cedros

October 28, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Sportfishing

Capt. Mike checked this afternoon to let us know that despite the wind and large swell they are haveing a good trip.

Yesterday morning they spent a few hours at San Martin and found yellows at every spot but no current so after getting some samples they headed on down to Cedros. Mike said that if they had had more time they could have gotten the yellows to bite sometime during the day at San Martin. (looks good for next weeks 2 1/2 day trip).

Morning found them at the north end of the island with about 20kts. of wind. Mike decided to check out a couple of spots that where more out of the wind than anything else. The second spot was holding some nice yellows and they spent the rest of the day catching quality fish. Limits for most everyone.

Sometine good things happen when you try hard enough.

Mike said that the wind is laying down and they will be off of Turtle Bay in the Morning looking for tuna.

tight lines and good times

THE FISHERMEN’S CONSERVATION PROPOSAL

2:00PM - SUNDAY - OCTOBER 18, 2009 - DANA POINT HARBOR

YOUR FISHING ACCESS IS IN JEOPARDY!!

The Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative is being finalized for the Southern California Region at a special meeting at the Hilton in Long Beach on October 20th to October 22nd.

The MLPA’s Blue Ribbon Task Force will consider three maps of marine protected areas created by the South Coast Study Regional Stakeholders Group for adoption by the California Fish & Game Commission.

WORKGROUP MAP 2, validated with the cross interest support of recreational fishermen, commercial fishermen, government representation, and environmental interests, promotes high conservation that meets most of the science guidelines of the MLPA law while minimizing the negative economic impact to the fishing and boating industry, its ancillary businesses and to the economy of the state of California.
