Mike’s Sunday Report

October 04, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Sportfishing

Mike checked in last night as they are working their way home from a 5.5 day trip. Plenty of quality yellowtail on this trip along with a good mix on the tuna, and dorado.
Mike said that he really liked the area about 150 miles from San Diego
lots of kelps with quality dorado and the better grade of yellowfin on them.
“It’s just the right distance for a 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 day trip and not too far from San Martin and it”s biting too”

The Big Game 90 has room on a 3.5 day trip leaving Wednesday night.

Call 858-270-7525 for trip information and reservations.

Here’s what the boys like to do after they limit out…

Just kiddin’…

All you want on the yellows

October 02, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Sportfishing

Mike checked in this morning to report very good yellowtail fishing.

“It wasn’t one stop and your done but we got the job done on nice quality fish  and are now headed offshore to look for dorado and tuna.”

Mike said the weather is great and they will be able to see a kelp for miles.

If you have never made a fall 4 to 7 day trip you need to try one. Most of the time the weather is great and you never know what you might catch.

On these length trips you don’t really need any specialised equipment either . 3 basic outfits (25lb, 30lb or 40lb, and a good 50lb or 60lb rig.                      Anassortment of hooks fron 1/0 to 6/0, some sinkers from 1/2oz to 6oz and 1/2 dz standered yo yo jigs.

If you don’t have them we rent the rods and reels and have the rest on the boat to buy at a very reasonable rate.

                                   SO WHAT’S KEEPING YOU

We have a spot or two open this fall call us or make plans for next year.

                                          check out the 2010 schedule

WE WILL SEE YOU ON THE BOAT

FALL FISHING DOWN THE COAST

October 01, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: big game 90

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!!!!!!!TRADE SHOW BANNER.jpg

I’m sorry for not keeping current on the posts but computer problems and getting the boat ready for our longer trips this month kept me away from the key board.

The boat  departed Tuesday afternoon and will be looking down the coast this trip.

Reports of great fishing for yellows right on the beach and good dorado and tuna close offshore have the boys all pumped up.

I’m sorry to say that the Mexican government has done it again.

After spending large amounts of time and money negotiating with several mexican officials and agencies and having permits issued by them (at a considerable coast to us)that made it legal to visit and fish Guadalupe Island for the 2010 and 2011 seasons the Sportfishing fleet has been forbidden to go to  the Island.

(we have several people working on getting this reversed BUTT)

This is just another example of how the Mexican Government is influenced by money interests who don’t like Americans and will stop at nothing even if means destroying tourism in their country.

Although this is somewhat disappointing the fishing at most of the other traditional long range spots is excellent and should give us some great trips this fall.

We do have a few last minute openings on some of the October trips including spots on the                         W O N charter. Give us a call for more info.
