THE SHOW IS OVER AND WE HAD THE DRAWING.

March 29, 2010  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Fred Hall Show, thankyous

Good Monday morning

Well the last show for the spring 2010 season is over and it went out with a whimper.
It was nice to see many of my old fishing friends and I hope we made a few new ones too but over all this show was very slow! For what ever reasons from good weather diverting people outdoors to the economy or just lack of interest there was just fewer people at these 2 last shows.

The good news is those of you who did show up found some great deals at the show and got to look at some pretty nice new gear.

As promised after the show on Sunday we had the drawing for those of you who bought OKUMA rods and reels at the Fred Hall shows this year. The winners are the 6 day went to Mike Cagle of San Diego,The 3.5 day went to Clay Van Thistle of L A and the lucky winner of the 2 day was Kyle Ordile of Vista.

Congratulations we have sent out emails and will be calling you. See you on the BIG GAME using your new OKUMA rods and reels. For the rest of you who bought OKUMA gear and received a 50% off an BIG GAME trip please call A S A P  to book your trip as many trips are now filling and you should book now to get your first choice on a trip.

Anyone who hasn’t had a chance to see OKUMA”S new reels and are in the market for a great reel you need to take a good look at what they have to offer.

P. S

THE GUYS HAD A NICE 2 DAY TRIP BUT NO EXHOTICS.  THEY HAD GOOD ROCK FISHING AT SANTA BARBARA ISLAND ON SATURDAY THEN  SOME BASS, BONITO AND WHITE FISH AND MORE ROCKFISH  AT SAN CLEMENTE ON SUNDAY. THEY DID SEE SOME YELLOWS BUT NO BITERS.

I’m Stuck at the Show - But You’re Not!

Hello all !!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to just touch base before leaving for the Del Mar show this morning.

I was talking to several of the reps. at the show last evening and discussing how slow the show was yesterday. I t seems that many of the folks that would normally be at the show where out playing/fishing and enjoying this great weather we are having in March.

We did talk to several guys that had come in early from a trip to the Coronados or La Jolla looking & finding in some cases yellows and even some seabass.

The seabass guys are keeping it quiet where but I have my hunch where to look .

Some of our friends that fish catalina in small boats have scored on the seabass too.

Hell if Mike & Jake didn’t have a 2 day departing this evening I would have been on the water today myself.

Well at any rate if I must be at the show I would like to ask some more of you to come by and see me at the booth. We can swap some old sea stories and you can take a look at OKUMA’s new reels.

Tony Panio of A A lures has some great deals on his famous swim baits and tails. He’s just arround the corner from us at Mike Gardener’s booth. There is a lot of neet stuff to see and buy so come on down and keep me company.

Updates From the Del Mar Fred Hall Show

March 28, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Fred Hall Show

Our good friend Harry Okuda stopped by the booth to say hello and reminisce about fishing, and to talk about the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge 2009.

The Tuna Challenge has raised over $1.5 million since 1994 for the Make-A Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions.

The Big Game 90 is proud to be a sponsor of the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge again this year - it’s a great event for a wonderful cause. Check out the Tuna Challenge website to see how you can get involved.

And while you’re at the show stop by their booth to buy raffle tickets for a Tiagra 30 LRS 2 speed reel and a Defiance 220nt center console boat. Support a great cause and maybe get really lucky.

Harry also snapped this picture, which he posted over on Bloody Decks. Thanks Harry - now I don’t know if I’ll be allowed to go home…
WOW Girl at the Del Mar Show

Don’t forget to ask the WOW Girl for your signup card for the Whopper of the Week Online Fishing Derby.  Or you can just sign up online to receive information about how you can win big prizes every week, starting in May.

Last Chance For Show Specials

March 08, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Fred Hall Show, Screamin' Deals for Subcribers Only

Today is the last day of the Fred Hall Long Beach Show. Last chance to get in on the Show Special 50% discounts on selected trips that we told you about here first.

Also your last chance to get in on the Best Deal at the Show – those free multi-day trips on the Big Game 90 when you buy an Okuma reel at the show. You might have to look around to find one because they’ve been going fast, but there are still plenty of Okuma Tiburons, Cavallas and Solterras to be had from dealers at the show.

I’ve enjoyed talking to so many of you at the Long Beach show. First thing Monday morning we’ll have the Big Game 90 at the boatyard doing our yearly haulout & maintenance & getting geared up for the 2009 fishing season, so you won’t hear from me so much during the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to everybody who stopped by the booth to say Hi or to introduce a buddy or to claim your free fishing trips. I know I’ll be seeing some more of you guys today, and then we’ll be looking forward to the Del Mar Fred Hall show later this month, March 25 – 29.

We’ll have similar deals for the Del Mar Show, plus a little something extra we’re cooking up just for that show. Of course you’ll hear about it here first on Reports From The Bridge - so stay tuned.

Until then,
tight lines and good times

Cavalla - “Built Like a Tank”

March 06, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Fred Hall Show, Screamin' Deals

Update from the Fred Hall Long Beach Show:

Over the last two days I’ve talked to a lot of guys who have come to the Big Game 90 booth to claim their free multi-day fishing trips after buying Okuma reels at the show.

Several people have told me they were first attracted by the special offer, but they ended up buying their Okuma reels because of the quality.

One guy had his Cavalla out of the box and kept shifting gears just because he said he liked the feel of it: “this thing is strong as **** and feels really precise - built like a German Tiger tank.”

Another guy said he was thinking about strapping his Cavalla to the front bumper of his truck next time he goes to Baja, just in case he needs to winch himself out.  I’m not sure he was kidding.

If you haven’t checked out the Okuma Cavallas you don’t know what you’re missing.  And there’s still time to take advantage of the show special.  Plenty of spots are still available on some great multi-day fishing trips.  Come to the show and get yours.

By the way - Custom rod builder Steve Tomiyama will be at the Big Game 90 booth on Friday starting at 3:00 to show off some of his latest work.  Stop by the booth to talk to Steve about custom rods and see what he’s been up to.

FEEDING FRENZY at the Long Beach Show

March 05, 2009  //  Posted by: Irv  //  Category: Fred Hall Show, Screamin' Deals

You know how it feels when your boat slides up on one of those dream paddies - fish boiling everywhere and everybody on the boat scrambling to get a bait or a jig in the water?

Well that’s how it felt in the Big Game 90’s booth at the Fred Hall show yesterday.

I told you last week that we have the Best Deal at the Show - buy a Tiburon or Cavalla reel from Okuma at the show and get a free multiple day trip on the Big Game 90.

Plenty of you got the message.  We had people stacked up in font of the Big Game 90 booth all day long, showing off their awesome new reels and booking some awesome free fishing trips.

A lot of the prime dates are already booked up - no hype, just the facts.  Many thanks, and congratulations to everybody who got in early enough to take advantage of the deal.

If you didn’t get in on the action yesterday, there’s still time.  As of 9:00 Wednesday night we still had 73 spaces available for people who jump on this screamin’ deal from Big Game 90 & Okuma.

That’s 73 free slots on prime-time, multiple day fishing trips.  Any of the trips is worth more than you pay for the Okuma reel - which is a pretty good deal all by itself.

Grab your Okuma Tiburon or Cavalla reel at the Fred Hall Long Beach Show, then stop by the Big Game 90 booth to claim your free multiple day fishing trip.  But don’t wait too long.  Once those 73 slots are gone, they’re gone.

See you at the show.
