Hello all!!!!!!

Well we are back from our much needed time off.

Mike and the boys had a great time in Mexico and I had good hunting in Nebraska but as always good things come to an end.

Mike has already started some projects on the boat and I am booking trips for the upcoming season.

On a sad note long time friend and mentor Dick Helgern passed away this weekend.

My father knew Dick and fished with him as far back as the late 1950s when Dick was running the Catalina Special for Norm Hagen. I caught my first yellow tail on the Reel Special when Dick was running it a few years later. I worked for Dick off and on during the 1960s on the Electra while I was still in school. In the early 1970s when I bought my first boat (the Sundown) Dick counseled and helped me tough those first tough years as a young boat owner. When I started to build a new Sundown in 1979  I used many of his ideas on the new boat.

Dick was one of the best sportfishing operators I have ever known. It wasn’t just his fish sense  (witch was equaled by very few) but it was his business sense and his ability to make every passenger feel special and appreciated.

Richard you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.

Hello all  it’s Mike

We just returned from a 1 1/2 day trip. We had good fishing again on yellowfin and yellowtail. Even with the wind the water is still warm and there seems to be a fair amount of fish still arround.

We just departed on a 5 1/2 trip and will be working our way down the coast tomorrow. We are planning on looking at some good water that is outside

SAN MARTIN that the terifin chart shows wish us luck.

12 noon Monday update

Well I just got service again so I will send yesterdays blog along with this one

We are in the area I mentioned yesterday and we are having good fishing for Yellowfin tuna, yellowtail and a few albacore .We have had stops on kelps and meter marks and just got a triple jig strike on albacore.

The weather is fine this area is a little far for a 1 1/2 day but a 2 day or 2 1/2

would be great.

We will spend the rest of the day hear and then head on down the coast and check out some spots that most of the other boats over look.

REMEMBER WE STILL HAVE A 2 DAY TRIP DEPARTING FROM SAN DIEGO NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT AND A 2 1/2 DAY DEPARTING THE 23RD.

Yellow Fin Tuna, Wahoo, Black Seabass, Yellowtail, and Dorado. now that’s what a Long Range trip should be.

We have had our chances at all of the aforementioned species of fish. The weather is great the food is even better and the company is the best. Some times this job can be fun.
