Sunday Morning Report;

Capt. Mike reported in that the weather is much improved in the area they are fishing in this morning at arround 70 miles from San Diego and they are scratching away at the albacore. The fishing yesterday was just what the doctor ordered for the group of women and kids that we have onboard this trip . They ended up with over 150 yellowfin and a couple dozen other mixed fish. Mike said that most of the tuna where in the 14 to 18lb. class with a few larger ones mixed in.

We will be doing a quick turnaround this evening heading out on a 2 1/2 day

We still have openings on this trip and several openings on next weekends 2 day trip.

Capt. Mike Jewett called in early to report good fishing this morning they have 30+ mixed fish  and much improved weather
Mick said that they had their chances yesterday afternoon but didn’t really take advantage of them and only landed 47 tuna and dorado but the fishing was much better than that.
The combination of tough weather,light line, old worn out tackle and inexperience was a bit too much for the first day of the trip. The weather being better and some coaching by the crew they are landing a greater percentage of fish this morning.
The grade of yellowfin was larger too some 25 to 30lbs and a few 50 to 60lb bluefin.
 
We still have openings on tonight’s 2 day  trip including the Military,Law enforcement and Firefighters discount. Sunday nights 2 1/2 trip has openings too

The jack-pot winners for trip # 25 all scored on nice bluefin that looked like they came from the same mold

First place went to Michael Menard with a 38.7 lb. bluefin tuna
Second place went to Mitch Lesh with a 38.6 lb. bluefin tuna

Third place went to Billy Miles with a 38.2 lb bluefin tuna

How about that sports fans 3 fish that where only ounces apart for jack-pot winners

The guys are back at it to day with the Doc. Ski charter. Mike reported that they had a nice start on the day with a few yellows and dorado and that they where seeing tuna that wasn’t ready to bite yet but they have high hopes for the afternoon bite.

While the offshore fishing has been hit and miss at best on the local grounds the bite is still red hot down the line at just over 150 miles from San Diego.
Mike Jewett brought the BIG GAME 90 in  this morning with a very nice catch of albacore & bluefin and even some 25lb class yellowfin and our first dorado of the year.
Jack pot winners where all bluefin on this trip.

The BIG GAME goes again to night at 8pm for 2 1/2 day and there is still room the price is $379 + food and permits

Mike just called in his noon report

He said that the morning was very slow for most of the fleet but at arround 11:30 thing started to happen and now several boats are in tuna stops. Mike reporter that they had been stopped for about an hour and have landed over 20 bluefin in the 30 to 40lb class and that there was a _)_&*)&^(&%load of fish arround the boat. WE will keep you posted

Remember that we have a trip departing Thursday evening and the depature time has been changed to 8pm if you are booked on this trip or plan on booking please be at the boat          no later than 7:15 pm on Thursday and the same goes for the Sunday evening trip too

Just called in this evening to report that today was probably the best Bluefin tuna bite in several years. Mike said that they didn’t get into the area until after 3pm but managed to put 45+ tuna on the boat and still had several hanging when he called in at 7pm this evening. Mike said that some of the boats in the area where over the hump(100+fish) for the day. The weather is a bit sloppy and the tuna are running 30 to 40 lbs. with a few 50 to 60 pounders mixed in.  The losses where quite high due to the weather and guys fishing too light of line.

Mike would like to remind everyone that a good 40lb. outfit that you can cast a sardine is the ticket for these fish.

We still have room on Thursday nights 2 1/2 day trip and again on the 2 1/2 day trip departing on Sunday evening. The coast is only $379 ,+ food and permits

Good evening all
 The boats that returned this morning from 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 day trips had nice catches of albacore and yellows. From what I could find out most of the better fishing was in an area about 120 miles from San diego and almost all of the fish where caught very early in the morning or after  4pm. You know what that means. If you want to get in on some of this  albi. action you need to go on a  1 1/2 day or better a 2 1/2 & 31/2 day trip

 It just so happens we have several 2 1/2 & 3 1/2 day trips scheduled in July 

(having been in this business for over 40 years does pay off some times)

2 1/2 and 3 1/2 day trips in July have been the most successful type of albacore trips most years for a long time and that is why we schedule them each year in July then switch over to mostly 2 day trips in August.

Trip #15a departs this Thursday @ 10 pm and returns Sunday morning. We only have 15 people booked at this time on this trip and only 13 on trip#16b that departs sunday evening July 5 @ 10pm
