Well the boat is back home in San Diego. The guys have put her to bed for the month.

Mike is off to his place in Mexico. Warley flew home. Brad, Doug & Arron are going to meet Mike in a week. Irv and his pack of hounds are headed for the frozen north.   Jake drew boat sitting duty for the first 2 weeks then it’s off to Mexico for him too.

The guys will all be back for the Christmas trip departing December 26. and then start boat work the week after New Years.

Our month in Long Beach was great. We had beautiful weather every trip and the Ling cod &  rock fishing was superb. The yellows disappeared after the first trip but Mike managed to find a few halibut some bass lots of big bonito and a couple of black sea bass to go along with the limit style  bottom grabber fishing on all of the trips.

The largest LING COD  in November was caught by YOLANDA LOPEZ of Wilmington (24.2lbs.) She wins the OKUMA TITUS 2 SPEED REEL

The largest yellow of the month was captured by CLAY VAN THISTLE of Lakewood    He wins a spot on one of our 2009 spring 2 day trips.

THAT’S THE WORD FROM SAN NICOLAS ISLAND THIS MORNING

Capt. Mike reported this morning great weather and the ling cod fishing is off the chart.

Most of the guys are fishing a live mackerel on a dropper loop rig and it’s a instant bite (the bigger the mackerel the bigger the ling)

Mike reported that the yellowtail did not bite in the afternoon yesterday at the cortez like they had been and he felt that if they had gotten there earlier they would have done better but they had tried the tanner bank first thing in the morning for just 1 yellow and lots of bottom grabbers.

They arrived at the 9 fathom spot  on the cortez arround 10:30 am and the fish where biting when they got there.

they managed to land 7 out of several hookups. Between the losses in the rocks and the seals Mike said they went through about 30 hookups to land  just 7 fish. By the time every one got rigged with heavy gear to handle the bruiser size fish the current went slack and the fish  had stopped biting. A word to the wise if you come on one of these trips this month have a 50 or 60lb. rig to fish the yellows.

LING COD SEASON CLOSES DECEMBER 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a Quick reminder that the BIG GAME 90 will be departing from Long Beach Marina Thursday evening @ 8pm

on it’s first November 2 1/2 day yellowtial & ling cod special sponsored by OKUMA.

The person that catches the Largest Ling Cod on each of these trips will receive an OKUMA model N55 catalina reel

also the BIG GAME 90 office will be giving a 1 day pass good for any open party trip departing from Long Beach Marina in the spring of 2009 to the passenger catching the largest Yellowtail on each trip in November.

There will also be grand prizes given for the largest Ling Cod of the month (a gold Okuma 2 speed reel) and the largest Yellowtail (a 2 1/2 day trip in the spring from Long Beach Marina).

To top all of this off if you are in the military,or are a piece officer or firefighter you can go for have price.

That’s $200 for a 2 1/2 day trip.

Mike Jewett called in this morning to report that they are on their way home today and should be at the dock arround 7:30 pm this evening.

Mike reported nice fishing at Guadalupe Island. They captured over 250 yellow fin up to 100+lbs and nearly 100 Quality yellowtail. He will give us the final count when they get to the dock.

Well don’t put away your tackle quite yet. The Big Game 90 is moving To Long Beach for the month of November.

We will be running 2 1/2 trips to San Nicolas Island to get in on some of  the great ling cod fishing before the season closes on December 1. As an added bonus on these trips the Cortez and Tanner banks are still producing good catches of yellows and there where some albacore caught just inside the Cortez yesterday.

Sounds like a great way to end the season.

These trips depart Thursday evening @ 8PM and return Sunday morning (You’ll be home for church and or football)

The price for these trips is $399 or 2 for $599.

The BIG GAME 90 departed on their last long trip of the season yesterday evening on the annual    Western Outdoor News charter. They are now headed to Guadalupe but are keeping their eyes open for kelps. So far this morning they have caught a few tuna and some yellows off kelps and caught 2 albies on jig strikes. They will arrive at the Island sometime after dark and begin looking for some yellows in the dark. We will keep you posted
 
Remember the boat will begin running 2 1/2 day trips from Long Beach Marina on November the 6th. They will be spending part of the trip at San Nick for the great Ling Cod & Red fishing  (OKUMA) will be giving a reel to the person catching the largest ling on each trip.
 
 The Cortez and Tanner banks will get looked at too for the yellows and tuna.
What a great way to end the season a full sack of lings & reds for the freezer and a lunker yellow to brag about all winter.

Reporting in this morning from Guadalupe Island.

He said that the tuna fishing was steady on the mixed size fish with a few fish that might go 90 or a 100lbs.

They made full tanks of mackerel last night and have had better luck with them. The weather is great and the folks are having fun. 

Just a quick reminder that the BIG GAME 90 has one last 1 1/2 day trip departing from San Diego before they start their 2 1/2 day trips from Long Beach.

The San Diego 1 1/2 day trip departs Friday night the 24th fishes all day the 25th and returns the morning of the 26th the price is $260 or two go for $400
